How are you liking this spring weather in the Hudson Valley?
Even though we can’t get out much lately, there’s still a lot we can do at home. Some are planning their gardens, whether it’s flowers, herbs, produce or all of them. Some are enjoying a quiet evening on the patio and, if they’re within shouting distance, chatting with the neighbors while practicing social distancing.
Not many of us are thinking about our furnace or boiler. But we really should. Once the current COVID-19 crisis passes, it will be the ideal time to take care of your home’s heating system. Here’s why.
Spring tends to be a quiet time for HVAC service technicians, so you have a better chance of getting a tune-up appointment for a day and time that fits your schedule.
As we warm up, it’s less and less likely that you will need to use your furnace or boiler. So having your regular maintenance in the spring makes sense. And if a replacement part needs to be ordered, you aren’t left in the cold while waiting for it to arrive.
As we clean our homes, this is a great time to clean our heating system. If you use a forced-air heating system (where you have vents instead of baseboard radiators), change your air filter. You should also look into a professional duct cleaning, especially if the air coming out of your vents smells bad.
Sometimes, a tune-up or repair isn’t going to cut it. Your HVAC service technician may have to break the news to you that it’s no longer cost-effective to maintain or repair your furnace of boiler. If that’s the case for you, your local HVAC equipment installation company may have rebates and incentives that can save you some big bucks!
Spring is also a great time to fill your home’s heating oil tank! Contact Resnick Energy to learn more.
